Betty Stamm (6th Dan)  We are truly fortunate to have Sensei Stamm as our Senior Technical Advisor. She has been practicing Judo since the early 1970s, and has studied Judo under some of the top US Judo Sensei and Coaches such as T. Ishikawa, Dr. Ashida, R. Nakamura, and Matsumura to name just a few. Sensei Stamm is the highest ranking woman Judoka in Florida. She was one of the top nationally ranked women players, and was on the first US Women's International Judo Team. She has competed all over the world, and has trained at the Kodokan and top Japanese Universities. After an impressive competition record, Ms Stamm retired from Competition Judo and started the University of Central Florida Judo Club (UCF), which to this date was the largest and most successful Judo Club in Orlando's history! Ms Stamm was also a National Judo Referee, and was an enormous asset to Florida Judo in that capacity. Ms Stamm was selected as a Team Manager for the 1992 US Women's Olympic Judo Team, and managed the team in Barcelona. She also provided organziational support for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. From 1983-1990, there were only 2 Judo Clubs in Orlando, and they were both under Sensei Stamm's direction. All current Judo Clubs in Orlando owe Ms Stamm a debt of gratitude. The good reputation she developed for herself and Judo open the doors for more Judo clubs in the city. Also, her former students formed the core around which all other Judo clubs later developed. Sensei Stamm has always given of herself to Judo and to the Community, as is evident by her many years of volunteer service to Habitat for Humanity, where she has built homes for the needy throught the U.S. and the World. Betty Stamm is a true Sensei, and represents the best of Judo. We are truly honored to have her associated with Metro Orlando JudoKai!
